Experience.
Honestly this subject is the most challenging subject so far throughout my 1st semester class but the most enjoyable when comes to the end. Even though i already go through this subject during my diploma 5 years ago, i'm glad that i retake this subject again because of how important the fundamental of typography in design and it's good to refresh back again. It's a challenging for me to go back a learn from basic. It was a enjoyable experience but i was so bad at our 1st exercise which is calligraphy. I just bad at writing manual. Maybe if i can put more practice into it, i feel maybe at least i can improve the writing but still i really don't like calligraphy. Other than that exercise, it was a fun journey for me to learn this subject again with a new syllabus especially when comes to digital part and even better, i can animated the works.
Observation.
I notice one important lesson from this class, especially from Mr.Vinod, he always push me, all of us to go even further, never easily settle on our certain idea or works. Always give our best. He remind us to read! and read. It is important to understand our rational behind our work so that we can produce a very strong and well outcome. Important to understand the history behind every idea. There is week where Mr.Vinod show us how does graphic designer created a page of books, and how the process take from 1st stage to finish. Honestly after he told how it was used to be, i felt grateful with us having this advance technology making our process even faster and better.
Finding.
Because of this class, i even appreciate typography even more, for example i start to be aware our surrounding typeface, at least to observe how does certain typeface and certain font works in a certain situation. I start to read more even tho ti dosen't related to art and design. I appreciate even more that has anything related to typography but still not calligraphy, even tho it was a hell of effort and skills to created that beautiful calligraphy, i still not prefer to do calligraphy again. But other than that, this subject really open my eyes and i really appreciate what Mr.Vinod and Mr.Shamsul our lecture share their knowledge with us.
